For many of us, the festive season is all about Christmas parties and going glam – whether it’s for your work or school Christmas party, or a family and friends get together. This is the time to make that little extra effort with your hair and makeup for those special occasions. On trend this season for hair is a deep side part, with long big curls. Think Kristen Stewart at The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiere and Amanda Siegfried.  This is a great look for a Christmas party whether you’re teaming it up with a sparkly dress or even a casual outfit.

To get this look, part your hair deep onto one side using a fine comb and blow dry. Once dry, use hair straighteners or a curling wand to create large waves. The bit that makes all the difference to this style, is to take the hair from the side where the parting is (where there is less hair) and pin it at the other side at the nape of the neck. This will make sure that your hair stays side swept and gives it a sleeker finish. You could even twist or braid this section too for an extra special look. Spray some hair spray to keep in place.

Hair and Makeup for the Festive Season

If your hair isn’t quite long enough, the best way to get this style is to add some clip in hair extensions. Make sure they are 100% human hair so that you can curl them, and then place the section where you need them. For make up this year, gold and bronze have made a comeback. Think the Olsen twins, Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson. Start with a neutral base so that the eyeshadow has something to cling to, and then follow with a light gold shimmer shade. Next, use a dark brown to create a smoky eye effect. This will add great definition to your eyes. Sweep the darker color from the outside to two thirds of the way into your eye.

Bring the light gold on the bottom of your eye line too, particularly at the inside to brighten eyes. Run the brown along the outer edges of the eye, and in the waterline use a dark brown or black eyeliner for extra emphasis. Follow with lashings of black mascara! For the rest of the makeup, keep it quite simple so that your eyes are the focus. Keep skin looking great with a satin finish foundation and a natural pink or peach blusher to give a healthy glow.

And finally, depending on your outfit, you can add a red lip to give a classic look, or if your dress has extra sparkle go for nude.
